Bringing your pup to your photo session?

I love it!

Dogs are part of the family,

and having them in your photos

can make your session even more special.

But, as adorable as they are,

we also know they can be

a little unpredictable!

Here are my top five tips to ensure a fun,

stress-free experience

when including your

furry best friend in your session.

1. Let’s Plan Ahead

If you’re thinking about bringing your dog,

just give me a heads-up

so we can pick the perfect,

pet-friendly location.

We’ll also consider your pup’s personality

— if they get distracted easily

or are reactive to other dogs,

we’ll opt for a quieter spot.

If loud noises or busy streets make them nervous,

we’ll steer clear of bustling downtown areas.

My goal is to create a relaxed environment

so you and your pup can enjoy the experience!

2. Bring a Helping Hand

Your pup may be the star of the first 10–15 minutes,

but after that, it’s helpful to have

a friend or family member there to take over.

This way, once we’ve captured

those adorable shots with your dog,

they can take a break

while we focus on the rest of your session.

Trust me,

this makes the experience

smoother for everyone

— especially you!

3. Pack the Essentials (Toys & Treats are a Must!)

A little bribery goes a long way!

Bring a few of your dog’s favorite treats

to reward good behavior

and keep their attention.

A squeaky toy or something that makes noise

can also help get those picture-perfect head tilts.

And don’t forget the basics:

water,

a leash,

and some waste bags

— you never know when nature might call!

4. Coordinate Your Outfits (Including Their Accessories!)

Your dog’s leash and collar will show in photos,

so opt for neutral colors like

black, gray, tan, or cream

to keep things looking seamless.

Bright or neon colors can be distracting

and may clash with your outfits.

Also, consider how your

dog’s fur color

works with your wardrobe.

If you have a black dog,

avoid wearing black pants

so you don’t blend together.

If your pup is light-colored,

be mindful of fabrics

that attract fur

(and don’t worry — I always have a lint roller on hand!).

5. Go with the Flow & Have Fun!

Dogs, much like toddlers,

have minds of their own.

They may not always sit still

or look at the camera

— but that’s okay!

Some of the best moments

are the candid ones,

where you’re playing,

snuggling,

or just enjoying the moment together.

The key is to embrace their quirks

and enjoy the experience.

A happy, relaxed pup (and owner!)

makes for the best photos.

Bringing your dog to your session should be fun, not stressful. With a little planning, we’ll capture beautiful moments that celebrate your love for your furry friend.
