Now What?

Looking at your answers you should see commonalities or repeating themes. What are the Top 5 that repeat? These are your Top 5 Values. These are the things that you can and will not compromise on. If you want to achieve something that does NOT involve your Top 5 Values then it will be almost impossible to complete. Do not worry there is a way to still achieve your goals.

Your Top 5 Values are what you have now and not what you want to obtain. My friend was venting about how she wants to get into shape but can’t ever seem to do so. Exercise is not in her Top 5 Values but her child is. I have a friend that has a child and wants to get into shape but exercise did not fall within her Top 5 Values but she is really beating herself down as she is not getting into shape and has hit a wall. I posed some questions to push her out of her normal thinking and offered ideas. Why not get a stroller and jog while pushing the child? Why not have the child play on the playground while you work out with them in eyesight? How about a bicycle with the trailer for the child? I was providing her all of these options so she could exercise through her highest value.

So if I find a way to combine what are in my Top 5 Values with something I want to achieve it is doable. Your Top 5 Values can change over time too. You need to have it connected to something you enjoy doing. I have went to gyms and got no where. But I started kayaking and love it. I’m outside in nature and get to be immersed while kayaking which is a win win. You want to get into shape but that does not happen to fall within your Top 5 Values then that means you need to incorporate something that is within your Top 5 Values with something that is not so you can get your subconscious to kick in and allow you to complete this task.
